Quality Control
A single Circuit Breaker consists of over 200 individual manufactured parts. CBI has the manufacturing capabilities to produce over 25 million parts a month to strict, internationally approved specifications. All operations within the company are certified to ISO 9001:2015.
All CBI products are manufactured and then tested 100% on the production line. Then they are sample tested in a separate action by the quality control department. Then they are sampled by quality assurance as part of an ongoing quality audit program.
This high level of conformance to quality standards has helped to entrench long-term supplier-customer relationships.
World-class engineering
CBI-electric have been designing and manufacturing hydraulic-magnetic circuit breakers for over 73 years, originally part of Heinemann Electric Company, a New Jersey based company who began operations in South Africa in 1949.
CBI products include such as Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs), Molded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCBs), wiring accessories, and specialized application Circuit Breakers. CBI-electric low voltage – previously known as Circuit Breaker Industries or CBI – has its production facility in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Over the past 10 years, CBI-electric low voltage has established itself as a supplier of world-class products and solutions to niche markets globally. The majority of our production output is exported. Our products hold safety approvals from the EU, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, China, Japan and the United States of America. Export markets are serviced by fully staffed offices in the United States of America, Germany and Australia.
With an exciting background of groundbreaking achievements, CBI-electric: low voltage has prospered for more than five decades to become a leader in the design, development, and manufacture of circuit breakers. CBI supplies products for power distribution in OEM production, residential, commercial, industrial and mining.
Engineering Product Development Strategy
CBi owns the intellectual property rights to all products manufactured by the company, making us a global leader in the development of electrical protection products based on hydraulic magnetic technology.
CBi commits to continuously developing new technology and intellectual property. A substantial design and development capability has been established with approximately 4% of total staff being employed in Research & Development capacity. This includes professional engineers, technologists and technicians. Over the past two decades, CBi has won many national design awards.
With access to the latest 3D modelling computer software, CBi engineers design the specialised tools required for the production of every individual component in electrical circuit breakers. Thus, from the design stage, CBi has the capability to design customised products, able to satisfy any customer’s individual needs.
Distribution Strategy
CBi’s vision is to distribute its products through a competent network that compliments the value chain. CBi has strategically utilised its distribution network to differentiate itself from competitors.
The distribution network is designed to not only offer customers easy access to CBi products but also to a full range of technical support services.
The CBi distribution network is expansive and ever growing. Over the past twenty years, CBI has expanded into a variety of markets throughout Africa, North America, Europe, the Far East and Australia.
